In this edition, we bring you some upcycling tips and ideas on making what you thought was a mistake-of-a-purchase, into your next fave piece. The best part is, you wouldn't have to worry about running into someone with the same thing on. Read on, find out how I work with Olivia of The Closeteur and added some personal touches for a truly unique and eye-catching piece.

Summertime is here! I can only think of the best things when summer is here, like sweet and sour cocktails, the summer breeze (ok, not so much in Hong Kong), swimsuits and another one of my fave- Sunglasses!  Have you noticed that sunglasses are having a moment? Truly, flip through any magazine, including this very issue of The Closeteur and you will see that sunnies is the accessory to have for summer.  For every face shape and occasion, there is something for everyone.  One of the designs I like are the fancier ones, embellished to the nines.  I'm going to show you how to make them yourself.  All you need is a little imagination and steady (yet quick) hands.

What you need: (old) pair of sunglasses, glue (I prefer hot glue or UFO all-purpose adhesive), all sorts of flat-based acrylic beads, faceted rhinestones, faux pearls, resins

1. Do a little research first.  Is there a design that you particularly like?  Look to the upper right to see some of the designer shades that got me swooning.

2.  Collect the colour combination needed for the left and right side.  Or will you be making one that goes across? You decide.

3. Once you've played around with the combination, it's time to start glueing!  I like to use hot glue as it just takes a little and it will hold its place immediately.

4. Have fun, and make an original and extraordinary pair!  Don't forget, less can be more, but more is more too!  You can also try a mismatched pair, and play with different depth.  Ie., glueing the flat gems on top of one another.
